Must-Reads For Millenials

Millenial is a word I haven't associated with myself before the end of last year. But alas, I must come to terms with the fact that the rest of the world see me as such. In my desperate attempt to accept this, I go seeking for articles that make me understand my own world. I am wow'ed by the fact that I am, after all, fitting in with my generation.

Below are some really good reads that a millenial like me can enjoy:
So there's that, folks. I learned that Millenials are often mocked by older generations, but I also learned that we are "in demand." Whatever's the case, I guess I just have to embrace this generation I belong in. I may be having a hard time seeing me as such, but if the rest of the world sees me as such, then I have to understand why.

Here's to a blessed 2014. I hope being a millenial will bring me luck this year!

Year of DIY: Floral Crowns

This is definitely the year of DIY for me. I'm not that crafty, but somehow, I ended up trying a lot of things this year, and DIY is one of them.

One of the things I enjoyed doing are flower crowns! I love how it makes every outfit feminine. Yes, it can make the combination of plain tees and combat boots quite dainty. I bought my first floral crown from an online shop, then I searched for tutorials on how I can make my own. I've made about 6 now and I'm in the middle of doing another.

I managed to make it a part of my daily outfits, and I'm starting to be known as the Flower Girl in my college department. Heh. I think it's also a perfect gift to a friend, but most of my friends couldn't imagine themselves wearing one. It could have been the best Christmas gift you know. So I guess I'll just stick to the original plan. :)

The Writing Ritual

Every writer has a ritual, and I sure have one.

Before I sit down in front of my computer or with my notebook, I spend about an hour just reading. I read even things that are barely related to what I should be writing. I read the news and I read novels. Sometimes, I even read the nutrition facts of whatever food packaging is in my room. Reading relaxes my mind and it familiarizes me with words.

Once I start writing, I also listen to rock music. Some would say that music actually disrupts the thought process. As for me, rock music quiets down everything and only lets me hear myself. It's actually very effective for me. I cannot focus without rock.

How about you? What are your writing rituals?

DIY Ideas For Christmas

(source)
Since I'm a student who barely scrapes by, I think I'm taking the DIY route when it comes to gifts this Christmas. Thanks to my best friend Pinterest, I already have some ideas on what I'm going to do. But this handmade mugs are cute! I know mugs are cliche gifts but I love doodling and I think I can do this. Besides, mugs aren't just for drinking, they can be pen holders, too.

If doodling on mugs isn't for you, below are other great ideas:

Good luck!

Vintage Book Covers

I spend countless hours just looking at vintage book covers. They are beautiful and would be lovely on my shelf, but they're often expensive. That's I take a trip to thrift stores a lot more than necessary just to get my hands on old books.

Below are some of my favorite book covers. I can't pick just one!
